Jump or step up to the top of a pull-up (chin above the bar). Hold briefly, then lower yourself as slowly as possible—aim for 3-5 seconds. This builds the specific strength needed for the concentric phase. Start with 3-5 reps per set and work up to 8-10. Master this before attempting full pull-ups. Quality over quantity—a slow, controlled negative is more valuable than multiple fast ones.
