Elevation happens when you shrug your shoulders. It's used in passive hangs, carries, and any position where your shoulders are relaxed upward. However, in most calisthenics movements, you want to avoid excessive elevation because it disengages the lats and destabilizes the shoulders. Instead, you actively depress and pack the shoulders. Understand elevation so you can consciously avoid it when you need stability.
